[edit] Start a Timeline(s)?

I was wondering if we should start a timeline page for both Classic Series and the New Series. We have all these dates and nothing to hang off of them. The NSD entries would have more Apocryphal entries than the Classic ones. Sound like an idea?

I started exactly that last night on one of my local wikis, but it's not done enough to upload yet. I planned on linking to them both from TTA Databank:History.
It hadn't even occurred to me what to do about apocryphal dates, though, hm. Perhaps a third, simplified copy of the New Series timeline, so it'd be less cluttered?
I'm going to be fairly busy moving and preparing for a trip out of town over the next two weeks, but I'll see if I can't finish it up.

Don't worry too much about it. Though it does bring up the subject of getting more contributors to the TTA Databank. It shouldn't be the John and Gregor show. :-)
I think we need to get some of the bigger pages to do a reciprocal link back to here. (Something I'm guilty of not doing on the list.)
Another issue is that I contributed some material to the upcoming Alphan book by Vulne, and I don't know if I can share that with the TTAD or not. I probably could paraphrase it so it's not identical, but it's one of those sticky points about current copyright law I wish didn't exist or was better thought out.
Enjoy your trip!

Congrats on the contribution. I think the way to handle the issue with that material is simply to ask Vulne what they'd prefer. Or just wait until the book comes out and let someone else address it.
As far as building up contributors, promoting things like this has never really been one of my strong suits, admittedly.
I can think of a few ways, though. The wikipedia article could link to it. I'm not going to do that myself or instigate others to, because wikipedia prefers that things get added by folks other than those directly responsible, and I already added a link to my older TTA stuff (albeit as an afterthought during some other edits, IIRC, and just because it's where the Celestia stuff is). It could probably also get mentioned on one of the various RPG.net threads.
We also have Jon poking in every so often, and Gabe has mentioned contributing soon. Some of my local group may or may not contribute (at least one of them is a long-time owner of SB2k) once they get settled from their own just-completed move. And if you look at the Related sites thing on the main page, you'll see that I discovered an older TTA wiki after I started this one; that site's contributors might want to merge their stuff into this one (or not; it hasn't been updated in awhile, looks like). I'll leave that to them to decide, becuase their content is under GFDL, not the CC license (which isn't quite compatible ... same reason I intend to basically gut the wikipedia articles on various stars that are here now).
I'm not too worried about the promotion too much at the moment, myself, as there's still some fundamental work I'd like to get nailed down (templates, articles for the links on the main page, and that sort of thing) before people come here expecting something more complete and useful than the incoherent starting point that it currently represents -- one reason I was working on a timeline last night, actually. But I don't mind if anyone else wants to.
And you just reminded me that I still need to link to the wiki from the rest of my site...

[edit] Link to the Yahoo Group?

Hey Gregor, can you add a link to the TTARPG Yahoo Group in the Related links section of the main page?

No problem.

PS: I meant to mention that all of that main page stuff is stored in various articles found through Category:Panels, if you see anything that would be useful, or want to change the featured article or something.

And mentioning that is ironic, as you just edited one of them...
