Exalted: Obsidian Requiem - Dramatis Personae
Various NPCs in the game.
Torves Ourna's menagerie
- Mehtar Kotari (Father): One time respected and decorated ranking soldier of the Realm, Kotari hails from the Blessed Isle. Though he speaks little of those days, it can be pieced together that he'd lost heart in the fight and used a severe injury that left him with a limp to retire at the age of 40. He settled in the Seven Willows village of Vesh to start anew, and found success as a horse farmer after some struggle and the assistance of Kayeira Torves. (Side note, Mehtar Kotari literally interpreted are two Indian names meaning 'prince' and 'unclothed' respectively)
- Torves Kayeira (Mother): Grandaughter of the Matriarch of Vesh, her attachment to the warrior outsider was never fully accepted by her family. But she was a woman of her own mind and raised her house and children despite.
- Torves Jiulan (Brother): Though as solid, dependable, and proud as his twin sister, Jiulan isn't an exact replica. He has learned to fight from their father (decent with a bow, better with staff), but was less interested in the arts of war than his twin. He was often found with his head in the books his father brought from the Isle (and were later gifted to him). He is the voice of temperance, caution and eloquence to Ourna's drive, passion, and craftiness. At the time we meet him, he is as deeply devoted to his sister as she is to him, and to his friends as well. (Pic)
- Kiratu Tremaen (Friend): Rumors abound about the extremely prosperous and wealthy (by Seven Willows standards) Kiratu family. Some say they made old pacts with the Fair Folk, others that an ancestor went too close to the Wyld, and other such things. Whatever the truth, it is undeniable that they are touched by the Wyld. "The Blood" as it is called crops up in random fashion. Some are untouched, others are completely insane, and some, like Tremaen (or Trey to his friends) have other bizarre things. He looks much like one might imagine one of the Shining Host to look, fine featured, tall, and utterly if cooly pretty. He also is 'cursed' with random bouts of luck, of both kinds. He was sent to learn with Kotari as a child, and the haughty child got a lesson in humility from both father and twins. However, he was utterly bound in friendship to the Torves twins after a time. Possessed with a love of living and an impulsive nature, he is a deeply loyal friend. He favors twin long-bladed daggers to fight and is tied with Jiulan with his ability with the bow (both are second to Ourna, if barely at this point in time) (Pic)
Kouramis Xylanthe's menagerie
- Arskelos (Father): Elderly, respected scholar. Has seen a good deal of Creation in his time. Has served as an advisor to various Realm nobles and petty kings, but his preferred activity has always been the uncovering of the lost First Age civilization through study of its various ruins and artifacts. Found love late in life, with a much younger tomb-scavenger, but the dangers of their shared profession made him a widower after only a few years and the birth of one child. Lived in Nexus for a time thereafter, occasionally mounting a new expedition to investigate a choice find. Some seven years ago, discovered the ruins near Seven Willows, and decided to spend his last years living in one of the villages and studying them. His knowledge of medical remedies and long-lost techniques for improving harvests have won him the acceptance of the locals, though his more esoteric pursuits still go over their heads. Would be played in the movie/voiced in the anime by Burgess Meredith.
- Beledes Loramendi (Contact): Male, pushing 40. A former student/apprentice of Arskelos's, later called upon several times to look after young Xylanthe while her parents were off on an expedition. Founder and head teacher of a scholarly academy in Great Forks. Married, successful, well-respected. Happily past his days as a grimy explorer of godsforsaken wastelands, though he'd likely be happy to have a look at any finds brought back by his successors in that profession. Would be played in the movie/voiced in the anime by Michael Shanks.
- Zorion Arente (Contact): Female, fifties. Fencing-mistress who retired to Nexus after the noble family that employed her was disgraced. Taught the art to numerous guildsmen and university scholars who wanted to ape the nobility by killing each other in the streets. Xylanthe was briefly an unexceptional student of hers while living in Nexus. Knows Realm culture and protocol, though she's a bit out of date on political specifics. Would be played in the movie/voiced in the anime by Zoe Wanamaker (Madam Hooch in the first Harry Potter movie).
- Imtari Ashat (Contact): Male, twenties. Goes by "Ash" (his detractors joke that he'll wind up a pile of it one day if he's not careful). A Scavenger Lands fixture, known for the frightening number of deathtraps he's survived (with accompanying odd scars and stories) since starting his career as a snot-nosed kid. Frequently hired by scavenging expeditions for his talent at the "getting in and out" phase of the operation, and also (given his history) as a general mascot and good-luck charm. Once briefly employed by Arskelos, until he started trying to play "Indy and Marion" with a teenaged Xylanthe and was forcefully advised to seek work elsewhere. Would be played in the movie/voiced in the anime by a young Kiefer Sutherland.
