At 3:05 am local time on the morning of the 16th, Valve activated the Half-life 2 authentication servers, enabling me and others to play the game.

Unfortunately, at midnight, 3 hours before that, they shut off our internet again. Argh. So I had to take my computer to mom's to use their DSL. But I got it activated.
